A cultura na revolução, a revolução na cultura: o debate sobre a cultura proletária em Literatura e Revolução

Resumo: O artigo analisa as posições de Leon Trotsky, expressas em Literatura e Revolução (1923), sobre o tema da cultura proletária, estabelecendo o vínculo histórico entre suas propostas e o debate que se desenvolvia entre o Partido Comunista e o Proletkult. Objetivou-se definir os interlocutores de Trotsky e analisar a recepção crítica do artigo “A cultura e a arte proletárias”, que sintetizava o argumento trotskista sobre a impossibilidade do desenvolvimento de uma cultura proletária na URSS.

Culture in revolution, the revolution in culture: the debate about proletarian culture in Literature and Revolution

Abstract: This article analyzes Leon Trotsky’s positions on proletarian culture, as expressed in Literature and Revolution (1923), establishing a historical link between his proposals and the debate developed between the Communist Party and the Proletkult. We aimed to define Trotsky’s interlocutors and to analyze the critical reception of the article “Proletarian culture and art”, which summarized the Trotskyite argument regarding the impossibility of developing a proletarian culture in the USSR.
