Resumo: Este artigo busca analisar a noção de desenvolvimento presente na obra de Karl Marx partindo de duas das interpretações mais difundidas de sua abordagem do assunto. A primeira é a interpretação que atribui a Marx uma concepção histórico – filosófica do desenvolvimento e de caráter teleológico, em que as distintas formações sociais percorreriam os mesmos estágios, de forma linear e na qual a principal tendência do capitalismo seria o nivelamento dos patamares de desenvolvimento em todo o mundo. A segunda interpretação é a que aponta uma mudança radical do autor e m um momento maduro de sua evolução. Após a comparação de ambas as interpretações com algumas análises de situações concretas, com as teorias da história e da alienação, com os fundamentos da teoria do valor e com o método da crítica à economia política construídos pelo autor, apontam – se as limitações de ambas as interpretações.

Two thesis on Marx and the concept of development

Abstract: This article aims to analyze the concept of development in the work of Karl Marx focusing on two of the most widespread interpretations of his approaches to the subject. The first is the interpretation that attributes to Marx a historical – philosophical concept of devel opment with a teleological character. According to this interpretation, different social formations would evolve linearly trough the same stages and the trend of capitalism would be the leveling of development worldwide. The second interpretation is the on e that points out to a radical change of mind of the author in a mature point in his evolution. After comparing both interpretations with concrete analyses, as well as with the theories of history and alienation, the foundations of the theory of value and the method of the critique of political economy constructed by the author, limitations of both interpretations are pointed out.
