Nacional-popular
Resumo: o artigo trata da evolução do conceito de nacional-popular nos Quaderni del carcere de Antonio Gramsci. Argumenta-se que foi por meio dessa obra que o conceito entrou no vocabulário político italiano, consolidando-se. O adjetivo nacional-popular foi precedido na redação dos Quaderni pelo substantivo composto povo-nação, revelando uma marcada inspiração na obra de Vincenzo Gioberti. Interpretes insistiram que o conceito remetia a cultura do populismo russo, divergindo, entretanto a respeito do período de desenvolvimento dessa cultura que teria sido mais marcante para o conceito. O artigo considera que essa era uma pista falsa e desenvolve uma hipótese alternativa: a de que o conceito de nacional-popular teve como inspiração principal os debates realizados na União Soviética a respeito da questão nacional, o quais atingiram seu ápice em 1923.

Abstract: The article deals with the evolution of the concept of national-popular in Antonio Gramsci’s Quaderni del carcere. It is argued that it was through this work that the concept entered the Italian political vocabulary, consolidating itself. The national-popular adjective was preceded in the Quaderni’s wording by the noun compound people-nation, revealing a marked inspiration in the work of Vincenzo Gioberti. Interpreters insisted that the concept referred to the culture of Russian populism, but differed about the period of development of that culture that would have been most striking to the concept. The article considers this to be a false clue and develops an alternative hypothesis: that the concept of national-popular was primarily inspired by the debates held in the Soviet Union on the national question, which peaked in 1923.
