Resumo: No presente artigo, Kevin Murphy comenta os eventos que acabaram eclodindo na Revolução de Fevereiro, destacando as tensões internas na esquerda russa sobre um processo que acabou alterando profundamente a história mundial. Aqui, Murphy demonstra como trabalhadores – e especialmente trabalhadoras – mobilizaram-se em torno de temas como a fome e a guerra para enfrentar a ordem czarista e derrubar o regime autocrático russo.

The history of the Russian Revolution of February 1917.
Abstract: In the following article, Kevin Murphy comments the events that ended up bronken out in February Revolution, pointing the internal tensions in the Russian left about a process that deeply changed the world History. Here, Murphy demonstrates how the workers – especially the working women – mobilize themselves around issues as the hunger and the war to struggle against the Tsarist order and strike down the autocratic Russian regime.

Resumo: O presente artigo trata-se de um comentário sobre o livro de Thomas Twiss Trotsky and the problem of Soviet bureaucracy. Nele, Kevin Murphy destaca o mérito do autor ao procurar estabelecer uma análise trotskista sobre os episódios de tensionamento de Trotsky com a burocracia do Partido Comunista da União Soviética, bem como destacar erros e acertos na análise do próprio Trotsky sobre o fenômeno da burocracia no socialismo.

Trotsky and the problem of the Soviet bureaucracy
Abstract: This article is, in fact, a comment about Thomas Twiss’ book, Trotsky and the problem of Soviet bureaucracy. In it, Kevin Murphy points out the merit of the author in establishing a Trotskyist analysis about the episodes of tension between Trotsky and the bureaucracy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, as well as to highlight the mistakes and the correctness of Trotsky’s own analysis about the phenomenon of bureaucracy in Socialism.

O movimento grevista pré-revolucionário na Rússia (1912-1916)
Resumo: O movimento grevista na Rússia pré-revolucionária entre 1912 e1916 foi um dos mais espetaculares na história do movimento dos trabalhadores em nível mundial. Na medida em que os historiadores do movimento dos trabalhadores tenderam a focar sua atenção nos anos revolucionários de1905 e 1917, a onda de greves antes de 1917 permanece fundamentalmente desconhecida. Em termos do número de participantes e das reivindicações políticas, no entanto, o prolongado movimento não teve precedentes. Ao examinar as greves por fábrica, este artigo sustenta que os revolucionários, em particular os Bolcheviques, atuaram como catalizadores do movimento. A presença ou ausência de agitadores revolucionários, mesmo no nível da fábrica, determinaram se os operários participaram ou não das ações grevistas.

Abstract: The pre revolutionary strike movement in Russia from 1912-1916 was one of the most spectacular in world labour history. Because labour historians have tended to focus their attention on the revolutionary years of 1905and 1917, the strike wave before 1917 remains largely ignored. In terms of the number of participants and political demands, however, the prolonged movement was unprecedented. Examining strikes at the factory level, this essay argues that revolutionaries, particularly the Bolsheviks, acted as catalysts for the movement.The presence or absence of revolutionary agitators, even at the shop level, determined whether workers participated in the strike actions.
