Mariátegui e os “populares”

Resumo: José Carlos Mariátegui viveu na Itália entre 1919-1923, onde desfrutou intensa atividade política e cultural, fortalecendo suas convicções socialistas. Entre os diversos temas que abordou nos textos em que escreveu no período, um deles foi a respeito da atuação política dos católicos, organizados em torno do Partito Popolare Italiano. O presente artigo apresenta esta reflexão desenvolvida pelo Amauta, ressaltando as tensões políticas existentes entre os socialistas e os popolari, bem como as sequelas do ascenso fascista para a organização política e partidária dos católicos na península itálica.

Mariátegui and the “popolari”

Abstract: José Carlos Mariátegui lived in Italy between 1919-1923, where he enjoyed intense political and cultural activity, strengthening his socialist convictions. Among the different topics he dealt with in the texts that he wrote in that period, one was about the political actions of the Catholics, organized around the Italian Popular Party. This article presents this reflection as developed by the Amauta, highlighting the political tensions between the socialists and the popolari, as well as the consequences of the Fascist rise for the political and party organization of Catholics in Italian peninsula.
