Resumo: O artigo recupera o longo debate a respeito da suposla tendência ao fim do trabalho no capitalismo contemporâneo, que teria transformado a teoria de Marx numa interpretação da vida social totalmente extemporânea. Opondo-se aos argumentos oferecidos pelos diversos formuladores das teses sobre ofim do trabalho (Gorz, Offe, Habermas, Flardt e Negri, entre outros), o artigo procura defender, por um lado, que muitos destes argumentos são carregados de problemas de toda ordem (teóricos, categoriais, metodológicos e empíricos). Por outro lado, procura-se demonstrar que, ainda que estivéssemos caminhando para uma situação na qual o trabalho deixaria de ter importância na reprodução social, a intervenção crítica de Marx não seria abalada pela aberta manifestação dessa tendência: ao contrário, a importância de sua intervenção seria, na verdade, realçada.Palavras Chave: 1. Work in contemporary capitalism: for the end of the theories of the end of work
Abstract: The paper resumes the longstanding debate of the presumed tendency towards the end of work in contemporary capitalism, which would have transformed Marx’s theory into a totally extemporaneous interpretation of social life. Opposing arguments advanced by the various thinkers who give shape to the theses about the end of work (Gorz, Offe, Habermas, Hardt e Negri, among others), the paper tries to defend, on the one hand, that many of these arguments carry with them all sorts of problems (theoretical, categorical,methodological and empirical). On the other, it attempts to show that, even if we were evolving to a situation where work has no importance to social reproduction, Marx’s critical intervention would not be shaken by the open manifestation of this tendency: contrary lo this, its importance would be, in fact, rendered conspicuous.Keywords: 1.
