Feminismo, ponto de renovação do marxismo

Resumo: Nos últimos anos, diversos países presenciaram um crescimento significativo do feminismo, algo que tem estimulado teóricas e ativistas a levantarem de maneira cada vez mais contundente a constatação de emergência de uma “nova onda” deste movimento. Este artigo pretende se ater a apreciação de uma das linhagens do pensamento e prática feminista que tem se destacado neste novo cenário de ascensão: o feminismo marxista. Mais especificamente, pretende-se trabalhar a ideia de que, com a crise capitalista iniciada em 2008, foi aberto um novo capítulo de sua história. Para isso, será feita uma breve recuperação (em termos históricos e teóricos) das relações entre feminismo e marxismo, das elaborações iniciais feitas a partir da obra de Marx e Engels até a formulação recente de um “feminismo para os 99%”. Será trabalhada a hipótese de que o feminismo mais uma vez se apresenta como um locus de renovação do marxismo, no qual suas dimensões constitutivas – teoria e prática – têm sido recolocadas e testadas.

Feminism, renewal point of Marxism

Abstract: In recent years, several countries have witnessed significant growth in feminism, something that has encouraged theorists and activists to increasingly raise the awareness of the emergence of a “new wave” of this movement. This article aims to focus on the appreciation of one of the lineages of feminist thought and practice that has stood out in this new rising scenario: Marxist feminism. More specifically, we intend to work with the idea that with the capitalist crisis that began in 2008, a new chapter of its history was opened. For this, a brief recovery (in historical and theoretical terms) of the relations between feminism and Marxism will be made, from the initial elaborations made from the work of Marx and Engels to the recent formulation of a “feminism for the 99%”. It will work with the hypothesis that feminism once again presents itself as a locus of renewal of Marxism, in which its constitutive dimensions – theory and practice – has been relocated and tested.

O que é a teoria da reprodução social?

Resumo: O presente texto é um ensaio da historiadora Tithi Bhattacharya explicando de forma sintética as ideias de intelectuais marxistas contemporâneas que conceberam a teoria da reprodução social. A partir dessa perspectiva, a autora destaca como as lutas da esfera da produção se combinam às lutas relacionadas a esfera da reprodução, o que fortalece perspectivas marxistas em termos de classe e gênero.

What is Social Reproduction theory? 

Abstract: The following paper is an essay from the historian Tithi Bhattacharya explaining, in short, the ideas of contemporary Marxist intellectuals who conceived the theory of social reproduction. From this point of view, the author emphasizes how the struggles in the sphere of production are combined to the struggles related to the sphere of reproduction, which strengthen Marxists perspectives in terms of class and gender.

Classe e trabalho no feminino: um olhar sobre a história das mulheres trabalhadoras

Resumo: Mulheres sempre trabalharam. Contudo, muitas vezes seus trabalhos dentro e fora de suas casas, foram historicamente sem visibilidade e socialmente desvalorizados. Este breve artigo busca trazer uma análise ampla sobre essa temática da história do trabalho e das mulheres, assim como fazer uma discussão sobre patriarcado, classe, trabalho produtivo e reprodutivo no Brasil e no mundo. Com isso, por meio de debates historiográficos, estatísticas, e demais registros sobre trabalho e mulheres busca-se refletir sobre a condição da classe trabalhadora e na precarização feminina, no passado, no desenvolver da época moderna e do modo de produção capitalista, e no presente, em tempos de crise, migração, mas também de aumento das resistências históricas contra o sexismo, racismo e o capitalismo. Por fim, observa-se também a necessidade da visão e da luta conjunta contra a exploração e opressões, que na atualidade não se desvinculam uma das outras.

Class and work in the female: a look at history of working women

Abstract:Women have always worked. However, often their jobs inside and outside their homes have historically been socially invisible and devalued. This brief paper aims to bring a broad analysis on this theme of labor and Women’s History, as well as to make a discussion about patriarchy, class, productive and reproductive work in Brazil and in the world. Thus, by means of historiographical debates, statistics, and other records on labor and women, the target of the discussion is to reflect on the condition of the working class and the precariousness of women in the past in the development of the modern era and the capitalist mode of production, and in the present, in times of crisis, migration, but also of increase in the historical resistance against sexism, racism and capitalism. Finally, it is pointed out also the need for a vision and a joint struggle against exploitation and oppression, which today are not dissociated from each other.

Resumo: O presente texto de Susan Ferguson e David McNally é uma introdução do livro de Lise Vogel, Marxismo e opressão às mulheres, publicado originalmente em 1983 e reeditada em 2013. Trata-se de um ensaio no qual Ferguson e McNally destacam a importância da obra de Vogel e a situam perante uma bibliografia cada vez mais extensa que vem discutindo as relações entre opressões de gênero e o capitalismo no âmbito do marxismo.

Abstract: The following paper, from Susan Ferguson and David McNally, is the introduction of Lise Vogel’s book, Marxism and the Oppression of Women, originally published in 1983 and reedited in 2013. It’s an essay in which Ferguson and McNally point out the importance of Vogel’s work and situate it in front of a bibliography that grows larger and larger, discussing the relations between gender oppressions and capitalism in the scope of Marxism.

Gênero e trabalho precário em uma perspectiva histórica

Resumo: Este artigo investiga a relação histórica entre gênero e trabalho precário, analisando um estudo de caso das mulheres italianas na segunda metade do século XX. Uma abordagem histórica de gênero mostra que diferentes modos de produção e condições de trabalho estavam presentes simultaneamente em sociedades fordistas e pós-fordistas, e que as mulheres, assim como os migrantes, experimentaram um nível significativo de precariedade, mesmo na chamada era dourada do século XX. A divisão sexual do trabalho e a discriminação baseada em sexo parecem estar no coração da natureza de gênero do trabalho precário, um nexo de longa duração que tem caracterizado sociedades industriais e pós-industriais, como o artigo mostra, em relação ao caso italiano. Ao abordar a questão da precariedade do trabalho como um fenômeno multifacetado, afirma-se que a difusão do trabalho precário na segunda metade do século XX foi diretamente afetada pelas lutas trabalhistas e das mulheres, por um lado, e pelo papel do Estado e da política em definir e redefinir as relações de trabalho na lei, por outro.

Gender and precarious work in a historical perspective

Abstract: This paper investigates the historical relationship between gender and precarious work, analyzing a case study of Italian women in the 2nd half of the 20th century. Such historical approach of gender shows us that different forms of production and labor conditions were present simultaneously in Fordist and Post-Fordist societies, and that women, such as immigrants, experienced a significative level of precarity, even in the so-called Golden Age of the 20th century. The sexual division of labor and the discrimination based on sex appears to be in the core of the gender nature of the precarious work, a nexus of long duration that has featured industrial and post-industrial societies, as this paper shows about the Italian case. Handling with the question of the precarity of labor as a multifaceted phenomenon, we affirm that the spread of precarious work in the 2nd half of the 20th century was directly affected by working and female struggles by one hand, and by the role of the State and politics defining the working relations in the law, on the other hand.

Amor e morte: transformando sexualidades na Rússia (1914-1922)

Resumo: O presente artigo explora uma face pouco conhecida da Revolução Russa: o seu impacto sobre a sexualidade. Para tal, discute criticamente a chamada “revolução sexual” que acompanhou as transformações políticas e econômicas de 1917, particularmente as mudanças na ordem do amor e do sexo na sociedade russa com o colapso das instituições patriarcais a partir da Primeira Guerra Mundial. Desta maneira, reconstrói as transformações no campo da sexualidade no curso da revolução e guerra civil na Rússia e o surgimento de uma nova gama de tensões conforme os bolcheviques instituíam um novo Estado na sociedade russa.

Love and Death: Transforming Sexualities in Russia (1914-1922)

Abstract: The article explores a little known face of the Russian Revolution: its impact on sexuality. To do so, it critically discusses the so-called “sexual revolution” that accompanied the political and economic transformations of 1917, particularly the changes in the order of love and sex in Russian society with the collapse of patriarchal institutions after World War I. In this way, it reconstructs the transformations in the field of sexuality in the course of the revolution and civil war in Russia and the emergence of a new range of tensions as the Bolsheviks founded a new state in the Russian society.

É possível que um cenário pós-neoliberal ofereça perspectivas de mudança para a renovação do feminismo socialista?

Feminism, capitalism and the cunning of History

Abstract: Do feminism and neoliberalism share a secret affinity? In this article the author examines the co-option of gender politics by the “new spirit” of post-Fordist capitalism, and the subordination of its radical critique to a neoliberal agenda, which instrumentalized the demands of the second-wave of feminism. Is it feasible that neoliberalism would provide prospects of change for a socialist-feminist renewal?

Feminismo e neoliberalismo na América Latina

Resumo: Neste artigo, busca-se testar a hipótese de Nancy Fraser da existência de uma afinidade eletiva entre o feminismo e o neoliberalismo, tendo como referência as realidades materiais e culturais da América Latina, em especial a do Chile. O artigo argumenta que a emancipação feminista se vê envolvida com o projeto neoliberal, mas que este possui desdobramentos específicos e historicamente delimitados em cada contexto nacional. Explora-se a relação entre a busca das mulheres por emancipação na região e a regulação neoliberal, a partir das experiências dos feminismos latino-americanos. Esta abordagem busca a especificidade dos movimentos feministas na América Latina, suas características e dinâmicas compartilhadas, em contraposição à interpretação de que estes seriam formas derivadas das experiências norte-americanas.

Feminism and Neoliberalism in Latin America

Abstract: In this article we try to test Nancy Fraser’s hypothesis about the existence of an elective affinity between feminism and neoliberalism, having as a reference the material and cultural realities of Latin America, especially that of Chile. This article argues that the feminist emancipation is involved in the neoliberal project, but that it has specific and historically delimited consequences within each national context. We investigate the relation between the women’s search for emancipation in the region and the neoliberal regulation, based in the experiences of Latin American feminisms. This approach seeks the specificity of the Latin American feminist movements, their shared characteristics and dynamics, as opposed to the interpretation that they would be North-American-derived forms.
